FAST reliable broadband and better mobile coverage will be provided to Ouyen, off the back of new Connecting Victoria project funding.
Member for Mildura Ali Cupper said Ouyen’s inclusion in the State Government internet and data investment program is encouraging news for families and businesses in the area.
“Once the new infrastructure has been put in place, internet speeds will be up to 10 times faster than what is currently available, and major connectivity issues in the township will be resolved,” Ms Cupper said.
“Shopfronts should get access to business-grade broadband, while 4G coverage in the township will be improved significantly.”
Ms Cupper said this boost to the region’s connectivity will do wonders for productivity.
“Given the technological direction many businesses and farming enterprises are going in, the more connectivity that can reliably be provided, the better,” she said.
“There’s so many benefits to a project like this, it inspires creativity, can increase productivity, and importantly it enhances the level of digital connectivity for the Ouyen community.
“Service upgrades for more regional towns will be announced later this year, I’m hoping that Sea Lake will be next in the pipeline.”
