Curating a thriving arts culture in Mildura

ARTS Mildura has recently received an extension and increase to its funding streams.

They will now collect $200,000 of State Government money a year for four years, under the Victorian Government’s Creative Enterprises Program.

Member for Mildura Ali Cupper said she’s delighted to see an increase to this long-term funding.

“It was so exciting to get the call from the Minister for Creative Industries, to hear Arts Mildura’s recurrent funding will not only continue, but will increase,” she said.

“Some sensational things can come out of this cash injection, and I sincerely hope this will unlock the potential brewing within Mildura’s arts scene.”

Seventy-eight arts collectives throughout Victoria are receiving funding security for the next four years.

Ms Cupper said the inclusion of Arts Mildura in the list is partly a product of the electorate being on the State Government’s radar.

“Recurrent funding is among the hardest things to obtain, particularly within the arts space, so Arts Mildura’s inclusion is sensational,” Ms Cupper said.

“I’m glad the Government has listened to the ambitions of Arts Mildura and contributed to their ongoing viability and prosperity.

“This kind financial backing that is so important, especially at the moment, and my hope is it will lead to the discovery of more young and exciting artists in the region.”
