THE latest funding allocation for Mildura South Regional Sporting Precinct shows the project is clearly on the Victorian Government’s radar.
Member for Mildura Ali Cupper said the $750,000 allocation this week through the 2020-21 Local Sports Infrastructure Fund was welcomed, however the fight was ongoing for the government to provide the $10 million needed to complete the MSRSP in full.
“We always knew it would be difficult for the full $10 million to come from the latest round of the Sports Infrastructure Fund given the number of applications from around the state,” Ms Cupper said.
“But it does show the government knows the importance of MSRSP and I am hopeful the $10 million needed will come in the 2020 budget.
“We had hoped that we’d have an answer on the $10 million by now, but frustratingly the wait continues due to the rescheduling of the State budget from May to October as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Ms Cupper said she was continuing to lobby the government for the $10 million needed to complete the $41m project through her #gameon campaign.
“I have made it clear to Premier Daniel Andrews and the Victorian Government that they need to provide $10 million more to even the score and I won’t rest until the announcement is made that the funding has been secured,” she said.
