MILDURA Rural City Council has received $500,000 to make the new Murrayville Recreation Reserve Community Complex a reality.
It’s one of 73 projects to secure a share in $22 million from the Victorian Government’s 2021 Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.
Member for Mildura Ali Cupper said it’s incredibly exciting news for the town.
“The outdated and dilapidated facilities will soon be a thing of the past,” Ms Cupper said.
“This investment is a key part of the planned $1.7 million restoration – which will see the old buildings demolished to make way for a modern multi-use building, and female friendly changerooms.”
Ms Cupper said the Murrayville community deserve this win.
“This is a town that’s been crippled during COVID restrictions, left isolated by border lockdowns, and its sporting hub was an eyesore,” she said.
“Sport has a way of uniting communities in a powerful way, and having a site that’s welcoming and inviting for everybody will go a long way to supporting the town’s recovery.
“This is a significant investment, and complements Council’s substantial financial commitment to the project.”
