I kickstarted my #gameon campaign early in 2020 to lobby the government for the investment.
Construction on Stage 1 includes an AFL-standard oval with turf cricket wicket and lights; a six-court indoor stadium with change rooms and other amenities; a standalone pavilion including coaches and timekeepers’ boxes and other amenities; and carparking and expected to be completed by mid-2021.
More than 200 jobs have been created through the construction phase which has been crucial during our current economic climate.
Stage 2 will include outdoor netball courts, a second oval and squash courts.

I toured the site just before Christmas and was blown away. There is no doubt Mildura Sporting Precinct will give our region a first-class sporting facility.
It is extremely exciting to think our region will soon have a facility capable of hosting events such as AFL pre-season games, NBL and WNBL basketball and much more.
But what is just as exciting is speaking to user groups who will call the precinct home. It will become a real hub for sport in the Mildura region which will have all the flow-on effects to health and wellbeing.
