MEMBER for Mildura Ali Cupper is pleased to have secured a review of Mildura’s bus network and has thanked the Victorian Government for listening to the community.
“Transport is a major cost of living issue and it is important that our community has access to a high quality and affordable public transport option to help make ends meet,” Ms Cupper said.
“It’s bad enough that we don’t have a passenger train connection to our capital city, but to have such an outdated bus network within Mildura was unacceptable.
“It has been more than 20 years since our bus service was last reviewed and our community has grown and changed a lot since then.”
Mildura’s bus network is one of three in the State to receive review funding this year, and the only regional one.
The need for a bus review was first raised with Ms Cupper just after her election, by a local bus operator.
Since that time, she has been working with Mildura Rural City Council, local stakeholders and the Victorian Government to make it happen.
“The review is an important opportunity to improve our bus network, and we want to make the most of it. I encourage all bus users to get involved,” she said.
“Community feedback will help shape the future of our bus network and make our services as targeted and effective as possible.”
The public can attend any of the five planned drop-in sessions to provide their feedback, or can fill out an online survey at engage.vic.gov.au/busreform
