Visa shortfall fix part of worker shortage solution

The Victorian Government yesterday confirmed that it will be writing to the Federal Minister for Immigration, Alex Hawke, to request additional state nomination visa places for regional Victoria, and the regions may have Mildura to thank.

Just prior to Christmas, local businessman Baljinder Sandhu brought to Ms Cupper’s attention a significant disparity in the amount of regional skilled visa workers requested by Victoria compared with other states.

Floodplain Harvesting report unearths compelling truths

MEMBER for Mildura Ali Cupper is imploring the NSW Government to accept every recommendation made by the Select Committee on Floodplain Harvesting.
“In the end it’s about fairness – irrigators in my electorate by-and-large are doing the right thing, now it’s time for New South Wales irrigators to follow suit,” Ms Cupper said.
