Worker shortage briefing arranged

MEMBER for Mildura Ali Cupper will host an online forum next week to discuss worker shortages within Mildura’s hospitality and retail sectors.

Invitations have been sent out for the two-hour event, which will take place from 5:30pm on Wednesday, January 19.

“COVID-19 pressures have exacerbated recruitment and retention of staff for these sectors, and it’s particularly urgent at this time that something be done about it,” Ms Cupper said.

“Businesses are cutting trading hours, some owner-operators are working close to 100 hours a week just to keep the doors open.

“This forum is an opportunity for me to hear firsthand about the challenges facing local businesses and will inform my advocacy to the Victorian Government moving forward.”

The invitation is open to the entire Mildura business cohort.

Attendees must RVSP via email to Ms Cupper’s office, at ali.cupper@parliament.vic.gov.au
